The Border Collie is a hardworking and tenacious dog and has been working alongside shepherds in the UK for generations. Highly intelligent and easy to train, they are known as one of the most versatile breeds in the world. They are probably not the best choice for a first time dog owner as they are high maintenance on all fronts. They are better suited to people with active, outdoor lives.
When it comes to health, the Border Collie is commonly known to suffer from Collie Eye Anomaly, Trapped Neutrophil Syndrome, and Ceroid Lipofuscinosis.
